Seal Your "Give-away-Work" with the "Creator Endorsed" Mark
I ran across this yesterday while I searching out some copyright information for someone and thought there might be a few people here who would have an interest in this.
This is a registered mark for people who willingly allow use of their images in other work, and for artists who use another person's work within their own compositions in a re-mix or re-use fashion.
This mark allows an image creator to "stamp" the user's work as authorized use. There are different versions of it, so you'll have to visit the site to read the information provided, and find the correct version if you want to make use of it. They have a version for those who share income from the resulting work with the creator of an original work, and for those who just authorize the work without any proceeds.
The "creator endorsed" mark shows differing values of support for the artist - the artist being the person who uses your free work, and you of course, being the creator (if I understand this correctly)
According a bit I lifted from the site, you can essentially set the relationship between you and the user however you want it work:
"the Creator-Endorsed Marks can mean whatever the permitting artist wants them to mean. That is, the terms of use for the marks state that it is the artist who gives others permission to use the marks on that artist's works (presumably when distributing the works). If the artist wants to sign a contract with a distributor that allows the distributor to use the "30%" mark, then great. Most of the time, that contract will actually stipulate that 30% of something goes to the artist, but in the end it's really up to the artist."
Basically, a person using your free images can get this stamp to tell other's that you've allowed an image's re-use. I'm thinking this is a good idea for people who willingly share work for remix, and I think I'm going to implement this on my own free work for anyone who wants to take advantage of it.
The mark (only one form of it):

For my part, I'm thinking I would institute this for commercial re-use of my images. If someone wants to use an image that will result in something that's sold (a card, a tee, etc.) Although it's unlikely that I'd want a percentage of the proceeds from another artist, if a large conglomeration wanted to use one of my images, I might consider the shared percentage version.
Once I've come to a decision on how I'd like to implement this for my own free work, then it will appear, along with an explanation of how to get your new creation from any of my work labeled with this seal, which means you won't have to worry about someone accusing you of stealing another's image. It's a good thing for both of us, so keep an eye on the licensing page here on Free-3D-Textures.
I'd still have to work out the details before I setup this in my licensing page, but I find this an exciting step forward for artists who reuse other work, and for people like me who share. At least we get some sort of credit from this.
I think the idea has a ways to evolve yet, like a work in progress, but the idea is one that I support.
