Replacing A Sky Using Photoshop Elements 8

A new tutorial for replacing a sky using Photoshop Elements 7. Usually I work in Photoshop CS (currently on version 3) but I received a request for help replacing a sky from a person using Photoshop Elements where the tools are located in slightly different areas than the advanced Photoshop. I also discovered there are some tools that don't even exist in Elements, so some of my other tutorials might be a little difficult to complete for Elements users. I couldn't find the pen tool (though I've only used Elements once to write the tutorial, so it requires a more in-depth look through), nor could I find the quick mask, which I use fairly often.

So, for beginners in editing, or new users of Elements, this tutorial should help you get started. The technique used for replacing the sky can be used to replace any background. The time involved to replace a sky or background usually depends on how complex the line between sky and subject is. Tree lines take a little longer than a smooth background, like a building. Don't be afraid to save the layered file and go back to it if you become frustrated or tired while working on a complex area.
