This is the second tutorial in the removing backgrounds 
series. The first in the series was for beginners and showed how to remove a background using nothing more than layers and the eraser tool - Removing a Background for Beginners
This next tutorial teaches the use of the extraction filter in Photoshop. As far as I know, this filter is only available in Adobe's Photoshop (versions CS2 and up), so this tutorial will not work in other programs, and will not work in earlier versions of Photoshop.
The extraction filter "extracts" your image from it's background, leaving you with the selection you want to keep and a transparent background, and this allows you to place the extracted portion of your image into another photo or background.
